If you’re a science teacher at a West Midlands primary or secondary school looking to inspire pupils with the latest industry innovation and win cash prizes, why not sign up for Enzen’s Mission: Sustainability 2022 programme?
As a global energy and water knowledge enterprise, Enzen is passionate about sharing its sustainability expertise with young people and giving them the opportunity to showcase their talents.
Following two successful programmes in 2020 and 2021, Enzen is now looking for schools to take part in this year's Mission: Sustainability, which takes place between early March and late May and is themed on creating the smart cities of the future.
Participation is FREE and schools who register will receive an innovation fund from Enzen to kick-start pupils' creativity. They'll also have access to Enzen resources and knowledge which they can incorporate into their classroom teaching.
As part of the programme, pupils will participate in a series of challenges for Key Stages 2, 3, 4 and 5 – a combination of creative, investigative and scientific tasks to see who are the most enterprising and inspired young ‘change agents’ in the West Midlands.
Entries will be judged by Enzen leaders for their creativity, knowledge and passion. Winning pupils will be invited to an awards ceremony in the summer to recognise their achievements, with the top-performing schools receiving cash prizes to spend on science teaching.
“It was a highlight of our academic year,” said Marie Fletcher, STEM Champion from Colmers School and Sixth Form College, which participated in the 2021 programme. "The support from Enzen was fantastic and we had free rein over what we did. The resources we received were very detailed and clear and we knew exactly what the pupils had to achieve. It was a brilliant project to be part of."

Sanjay Neogi, Head of UK and Europe for Enzen, said: “We're passionate about nurturing the potential of the next generation and showing them how through knowledge, creativity and collaboration, they can help make a real difference to the future of our planet.
"The past two years of Mission: Sustainability have been a resounding success, so we're looking to attract more schools across the West Midlands for the 2022 programme. It’s an excellent opportunity to inspire pupils about the importance of sustainability, and show them how they can apply scientific principles, ingenuity and awareness to solve real-world challenges like climate change.
“Home to our corporate headquarters, the West Midlands was where the Enzen story began in the UK. We've been very impressed by the talent and enthusiasm of teachers and pupils across the region in 2020 and 2021, so we're looking forward to seeing what they produce this year. Building cleaner, healthier and more sustainable urban environments is one of the biggest challenges facing our society, and the smart cities theme is one we believe will resonate with teachers and pupils across the West Midlands."
