Bio

Okan Benli leads Enzen’s global innovation in engineering, enabling our customers to become the smart networks of the future.

With more than 20 years’ industry experience, he is an accomplished engineering leader who has delivered state-of-the-art solutions across smart grids, smart metering, SCADA, microgrids and asset maintenance to improve operational efficiency.

During his career he has implemented more than 50 projects, some of which were the first projects of their kind in Turkey, such as IoT asset maintenance solutions in power distribution and assessing the integration of electrical vehicles on the grid.

At Enzen, Okan is responsible for enabling our electricity distribution networks in Australia, Turkey and UK to meet the engineering challenges of a low-carbon world through best-in-class digital and automation solutions.

In the course of his tenure, Okan has helped make Enzen and its group company Enertest a preferred company for IoT, SCADA, automation and low voltage network modernisation solutions, establishing trusted partnerships with the country’s largest power networks.

He is passionate about making Enzen the partner of choice for net zero engineering in electricity, then replicating this model across gas and water sectors.

Okan believes that as utilities create the smart, flexible networks of the future, the demand for highly-valued engineering knowledge is higher than ever, and that Enzen has a crucial role to play in the digitalisation of the discipline across the industry.

Exchanging information and ideas is one of Okan’s core principles as a leader. He institutes this in all his projects so stakeholders can learn the latest technologies and shape new business models together through the lens of continuous improvement.

Previously employed by Bosch and Enerjisa, Okan has been a key member of Turkey's Smart Grid Commission – founded by Energy Market Regulatory Authority – and has presented as a thought leader and influencer at numerous events, seminars and conferences.

A graduate in Electronic Engineering from the Orta Doğu Teknik University, he also has an Executive MBA from the same institution. Outside of work, Okan love spending time with his wife, two sons and his dog. He enjoys time in nature with friends and loves music, playing the folk Turkish instrument the bağlama.
